The rain hammered down upon the phonebox as Gideon made a series of phone calls. The lupines seemed willing to meet for talks, the Sabbat had attacked the Asylum. Finally he reached for his last quarter and prepared to make his final call. They had just met a friend of Riverthrush's, who had given him a vile of a mysterious blood like substance as a cure for the darkness that had infected Gideon since he drunk Thomas' soul. The quarter catching the poor light in much the way the vial had when it had been handed over by the mysterious Professor Peabody a few miles back on the road. Professor Peabody had simply stepped into the road and Gideon had barely the wits to bring the car to a stop without losing it on the icerink-like road. Gideon brought himself back to the moment clicked the hook a few times, inserted the quarter and dialled Jackson's number. 90's style.

"It's Gideon Jones, the transfer is going ahead."
"Gideon Jones? I thought you were dead."
"I'm deader than you think, Jackson. We'll be over to pick up the prisoners. In the meantime the Sabbat are in the neighbourhood so keep your eyes open. Gideon out."

Gideon pulled the long brown mac around himself again and marched out into the rain, the dim lighting of a neglected neighbourhood giving him an aura of decay...or was it something else - more primal? As he reached the cars, the others were already getting out and drawing weapons. "Movement, over there.", shouted Danior over the roar of rainfall.

They pursued the figures climbing the stairs on the Cabrini Green block, the sound of machine gun bursts obfuscated by the stacatto of the rain. Bodies lay in the balcony, the blood and water quickly spreading. All of the dead were armed and armoured, Danior fell back as he scrounged some weapons. They reached Jackson's apartment and pause for a moment. Then with a few knowing looks and hand signals, Gideon dove forwards as Danior slid underneath and opened up with duel machine pistols.. Gideon getting off a single, potent blast from the sawn-off shotgun. He hit the ground with a thud. Their target was running up a set of unexpected stairs and was bleeding so they gave chase but ultimately found the upstairs empty. In the distance, the sound of a chase scene occurring was soon lost to the storm. A roll of thunder concreted the imagery of isolation the ever present storm seemed to symbolise.

The Sabbat had Cabrini Green surrounded. Every bolt hole they had scouted prior to the attack was being monitored. Once the fur started flying escapees were dealt with. Alberto had a relatively simple post - one escapee (probably a ghoul) leapt from a tall building and apparently broke a leg on landing. Before he had chance to heal and defend himself Alberto had dispatched him with claws. But then they were called away, Alberto hurried to one of the waiting cars and they gave chase. At least one bolthole had been left uncovered, Cameron had seen Jackson get into a car a block away but they were in danger of losing him. Unfortunately they did.

Alberto was furious. He demanded they stop pussying around with childer and go after the Prince for a coup de grace of chaos. Rumour had it that the Black Hand knew where Lodin was hiding and was planning an operation. The only lead the pack had was the address of a possible Black Hand initiate - the cainite who attacked the Succubus Club manager. So they broke into his apartment and tore it to pieces. Eventually Alberto found a number, with a symbol he recognized as being associated with the Black Hand. He called it.

"We're looking to take down the big target."
"We were actually looking for a sui- volunteer group. We'll forward instructions to your handler."

Meanwhile, driving through the streets of Chicago listening to classic rock in the most classic car - outside a murky red sky, and the terminal rainfall Gideon Jones was getting tired of this shit.

"This is Cabrini1 to Creepshow.", blared his radio.
"Roger that Cabrini1, what's your status?", growled Gideon.
"I've got myself to a safehouse, we need to talk and fast. Meet me at 4234 Grout Lane."
"Out."

Jackson's safehouse was more comfortable and safe looking than his haven, positively middle-class.

"The truth is, Lodin set us up. He's using the Lupine thing as a cover to get rid of his enemies - it certainly ain't the first time he's done it. Speaking of which, did you hear the Chantry was attacked the other night? I hear Garwood Marshall was killed and Dusable severely injured. That's fucked up, man."
"Garwood is dead?", asked Gideon, actual emotion almost detectable.
"Shit, that's right you and he were in that band together, sorry about that, but listen there is something you could do about it all. Lodin can't last long as Prince after all this. Capone is eyeing the spot but the guy's a cruel thug and he probably wants me dead. I can give you Lodin's location. But only if you take out Capone for me. My guys are all known to him, and he's a paranoid fucker."
"I don't see why we should take out the the barriers between you and Princedom. You want to be Prince?" Gideon asked pointedly.
"I dunno man, maybe. A move upwards or some shit."
"Primogen?"
"Whatever, man. With no Capone and a better Prince, I'd be in a position to help y'all out. It's good to have friends in high places, right?"
"I'm interested.", interjected Zuranna.

They took the address of Capone and as they left Jackson' they became entangled in a sticky invsible web like structure that spanned the street. Its gigantic spinner, made its way around a nearby corner.

Zuranna wrestled her way free with her gigantic, horrid strength and went to stand between the spider demon thing and the rest of the coterie. Gideon felt a terrifying burst of fear of imminent death and began to struggle wildly. As the buildings along the street began to melt, Zuranna began to have second thoughts. A straggly grey/silver lupine appeared near to her then from out of an alleyway next to a Chinese laundromat filled with pools of condensing air. The Lupine concentrated for a moment in a Gandalfianly defiant pose and then the melted buildings and giganto-arachnid alike were a terrible memory and no more.

"It's you!", cried Reg, recognizing him as the tracker that let him free.
"That was a Nexus Crawler. Very dangerous. Fortunately they are relatively easy to banish. It remains closeby though, we should leave now.", said the lupine after he had changed into a scruffy homeless man form.

As they drove away, 'Pariah' as he called himself, told them he was a werewolf who was also undead. When they questioned the possibility, all he could say was that he was the only one that survived from several that were embraced. He told them he had found the Sabbat hidey-hole and they all agreed a good raid was in order. Through the heavy rain, occasional rumble of thunder and awesome riffs of late 70s/early 80s rock they drove to their destiny.
Alberto's captivity was short-lived. No longer protected by legions of zombies and a coterie of cainites - The Sabbat took the opportunity to retrieve their comrade, leaving Zuranna with a sore head.

Alberto in the meantime, went on a team hit mission against Tamoszius. Since Tamoszius knew Alberto and was well disposed towards him, the hit was a simple, quick and hideous betrayal of everything his former coterie had sacrificed so much for.

Gideon had received a call from Thornhill asking if they could identify the body of the thing that attacked the Succubus' mortal manager when Reg was last there...so together they went. As they left Zuranna arrived and tagged along. The body, laid out in Brennon's bare VIP suite, was not readily recognizable though Danior had a fleeting memory of seeing the guy the night of the Werewolf attack on the Succubus Club.

They also noticed a strange tattoo on the back of the right hand of the corpse. Gideon identified that it had been administered post mortem, which would suggest the possibility of some kind of magical/vitae powered tattoo artist, since tattoos on vampires were known to be temporary.

But then the Succubus club came under attack again. From more werewolves. This time they were in a much more precarious position, and fleeing was a more difficult prospect. They all decided to stay and they took what little furniture there was and began barricading the doors. Once the operation was completed, the werewolves burst through the floor to ceiling windows of the VIP suite instead and a fight was on.

Gideon got in a head shrinking, while Danior somewhat successfully sewed confusion and Zuranna took a big hit. Brennon kill one werewolf by shooting it in the head with silver bullets, but as his head was inside the same werewolf's head at the same time this lead to mutually assured destruction. Just as the momentum of the battle began to turn against them the werewolves heard a howl, turned and headed into the labyrinth.

They followed, at a 'safe' distance. The labyrinth was in disarray, a huge fight had occurred down there, but few had been killed it seemed. Genghis confirmed it, that the werewolves were after Portia for some reason. The seeming deathlessness lasted until they stepped inside the heavily damaged maze. Dozens of dead and dying lay about like rejected dolls. Danior was shocked by the scene at first and move to help, but ended by callously drinking all the spare blood that he could. Reg found himself a little secret door, clued in by a bloody hand mark against the wall in an area that would have been much darker but for the damaged walls of the maze.

Entering the closet sized room, he found two bodies. One of them, a werewolf - still in his monstrous form, and the other a young man. They had apparently strangled one another to death as their hands were still around each others throats. Gideon searched the bodies and Reg searched the room.

The body had one thing of interest on it: A slightly damaged gold death mask, set with the visage of Gideon Jones. Gideon took it and looked up to see Reg, in the next room.

Another secret room that Reg had found and slid open. This time it contained a mattress, some manacles set into the wall and in its centre there was a glass vial of thick inviting red liquid lit from above by a single bulb. Reg lifted the vial and decided that he had had good luck with mysterious viles in the past and drunk it down.

"Of course.", were his last thoughts as his vision swam and faded to black.

An so it begins - Part 2

Having been searched by the Drazi partol ship in the T'lad'tha system transfer point on the edge of Descari space, the "Liberty's Fortune" continued on its mission to the Levana system. Another day or so passed and eventually they exited hyperspace near a small moon orbiting a massive gas giant in the Levana system. As the ship headed into the system towards the 4th plant "Levana IV Beta" Alison Ferdenaz explained how this system is very near the Llort border. Professor Vancen recognised the race from his extensive xeno-historical studies. The Llort have a bad reputation as pirates. They do not believe in ownership and if they see something they want they just take it! This is not a problem in their society and material possessions are given freely but this cause problems when they want something another race has.

Rasheed brought the pinnace into orbit above the planet and the initial scans revealed a small rocky desert like planet. The scans identified the location of the camp and ruins that were being investigated by the scientists but no life signs could be detected. Rasheed landed the pinnace about a mile from the camp on the nearest clear ground. Alison, Dave, Professor Vancen, G'Kruse and Nakir suited up in full EVA gear leaving Rasheed to guard the ship and Jill in her quarters with a migraine. The five suited figures set off across the rocky landscape taking note of the scrubby bushes, thorny plants, and strange animals including odd lizards and an even stranger segmented worm like creature burrowing in the sand.

The group spit up and Vancen and Dave headed stright for the ruins and the other went to investigate the camp. The camp was ransacked and everything of value had been taken. Further investigation found the lead scientists diary which documented how then had found a large unnatural chamber hidden underground. He believed it have been to hide something? Possible something there before the ruins themselves were built. Nakir and G'kruse aso found another diary detailing how to extract poison from the worm creatures as well a a piece of torn cloth not belonging to the scientists.

Over in at the ruins Dave and Lawrence began exploring finding a passageway leading down into the ground. After exploring various passages and collapsed tunnels Lawrence discovered a section of a passageway where the scientists had found some fragments of a banner. The symbols mostly lost to decay looked similar to some ancient minbari texts that the professor had encountered in his studies. Taking the fragments they continued to explore and eventually discovered a large chamber with a domed ceiling. The chamber was however empty apart from two dead security guards and a destroyed portable generator. The bodies were about a week old and had definate signs of PPG blasts.

The teams regrouped and returned to the ship to decided on their next move. On the way back one of them fell into a pit and some hungry insect antlion creature attacked. However, a few PPG shots and the creature was dispatched. Back on the ship they took some time to relax and play some squash as Lawrence analysed the fragments which dated back almost 3000 years.

Later as

PROFFESSOR LAWRENCE VANSEN

stood around discussing the predicament on the bridge of the ship, Rasheed buzzes in on the intercom. Asking to be let in...he has some "Friends" with him! External scans revealed that he was surrounded by 4 unknown aliens. Activating the automated defenses

PROFFESSOR LAWRENCE VANSEN

opened the outer airlock doors and Nakir and G'Kruse charged down to the airlock.

The automated defenses took the first couple of aliens out even as Nakir shot another through the irising second airlock door. G'kruse leapt out with a Narn warcry and began to chase down the 4th fleeing alien which they now knew to be Llort! Catching him they grappled on another for some time but eventually Nakir and Dave caught up and restrained the remaining live Llort.

What followed was an interrogation. Lawrence knowing Jill's abilities brought her in on the questioning. Eventually the captive alien broke and in very basic english told them where his boss Torashkavall was onboard their ship which was still hidden on the planet. Apparently shortly after taking the scientists hostage a Drazi ship had entered the system and was hunting for them.

Using the Llort comms unit they contacted Torashkavall and negotiated the release of the scientists in return for them helping the Llort escape the system. The exchange took place at the scientists camp. As Torashkavall handed over the scientist someone got trigger happy... the narn? or the brakiri?

The Llort fled as the scientist were taken back to the pinnace by the rescue team. As the Liberty's Fortune left the systems they once again encountered the same Drazi patrol as before. Betraying the deal with the Llort they explained where the Llort ship was hidding on the planet before heading back to Babylon 5.
(I'm afraid this update will be brief and too the point as the long break, and a head full of cold leaves me a bit vague on the details of last session) I do recommend people glance over the last few updates before this to get them selves freshened up on the plot scenario.

[After beginning the Sultan engineering investigation under Markels direction the amalgam had recovered another strange artifact, had their minds "supposedly"!! wiped, lost the CEO of Sultan Engineering near a farmstead outside Moscow causing the company to pretty much dissolve and vanish, witness a raid on the museum by vampires and Zukov had been captured by what is likely one of the seven stars working with the vampire elder.]

Session 14

Agents Hurst, Krenyenko, and Oleg along with a couple of HitMarks raided the penthouse apartment of Konstantin Thon a Toreador Vampire and childe of the toreador elder Alexander Vedernikov who is holding agent Zukov hostage and demanding the magical artifact Urn/Jar from the Museum be handed over. The raid was highly successful and three hermetically sealed caskets were recovered, scans showed that they contained the bodies of three vampires.

Dr Volyova was strangely absent from recent events, although she had been seen spending a lot of time down in Yankovich's labs and the occasional view of her suggested she had put on some weight. The official line was that Dr Yankovich was conducting further assessment of her after the time travel incident and the following "mental attacks" suffered by the amalgam.

The interrogation of the captured vampires was conducted by Krenyenko and Oleg who kept the kindred sealed in their caskets in a sunlit room. The interrogation of the conscious and resisting Konstantine Thon revealed that Alexander had been making a deal with a group of strange mortals with great power, their representative calling himself the 4th Star was always masked and eerily silent in public. Alexander and this 6th star had made a deal: Alexander would recover a supernatural artifact from the museum and protect it from other parties and in return this 6th star had promised to give Alexander the upper hand over his rivals for power over the kindred in the city. The events of the previous few evenings however had changed things when the vampire had sent a team into get the item from the museum someone had already been there in the process of extracting it. The Vampire had slaughtered the thieves who were seemingly nothing more than mortal mercenaries. The item was brought to Alexander at the Bolshoi theater where he held court only to discover the artifact to be a fake. He did not have time to place blame when the man responsible burst in on the Elysium. From what Konstantin knows as he was no actually there himself this man fought the entire court killing several kindred and many ghouls but was finally brought down by the elder Alexander himself, who then realizing that whoever this man worked for must be in possession of the original Urn Artifact, took his prisoner to a secret haven located in an converted church in a small town called Vnucova 20 miles outside of Moscow. Konstantine also thinks that it is likely the 6th star is there with him.

The other two caskets are also investigated and contain the sleeping forms of Konstantin's coterie mates Sadina Ivonova and Karl Lavoski. The interrogation of the vampires abruptly ends when a toxic gas is released from one of the caskets. luckily no one was severely harmed.

################################

Meanwhile, Zucovs last memory was of smashing his own brains out against the metal bars of his cramped cage. Now he is running wildly through the souks of Damascus clutching a wooden box tightly to his chest. The streets are noise and crowded but he must keep running, they are getting closer. He dives down a side street still trying to reconcile what the hell is going on, only knowing that he must avoid capture at all costs. Turning a corner he stops dead in his tracks the way bared by a formation of soldiers leveling crossbows at him. The hard fast pounding of Zukovs heart slows as also the rest of the world slows around him. Pulling a disk like device from a belt pouch Zukov begins to spin it on the palm of his hand. It begins with a whirring noise that builds to a crescendo of raw energy violently leaping from the disk a striking everything and anyone nearby. Those touched by the raw primium energy explode as their avatars violently awaken. Chaos...!

People all around are vanishing, exploding, burning, freezing, melting and decomposing. Zukov moves calmly through the chaos a disappears down a side street. The dream fades and Zucov finds himself standing in an oddly empty space, lit by an unseen source think fog swirls around.

Out of the shadows walks a familiar face, Bogdan Knoss. This time he looks solid and less aged as he warmly greets Zukov. He explains that he has come to present the evidence he promised and in return requires Zukovs help to bring him safely into the Union. He also warns that what he is about to reveal if used wrongly would seriously harm the Unions position in Moscow and likely bring about the liquidation of the UMC as a front for the technocracy.

The two talk for sometime, firstly Bogdan explains that he is not just a random mage wanting to defect, he was once a member of the now long vanished craft masons and that he was part of the movement that was to eventually bring about the union, hence his wish renounce reality deviance and to become a technocrat rather than join with the traditions. He tells of how he was betrayed by fellow member of his own movement who revealed his sanctum to a cabal of tradition mages tasked with the hunting down of these radical daedaleans. This cabal was called the 7 stars.

The conversation then turned to more modern topics, the 7 stars where here in Moscow. Obviously not the same mages who hunted Bogdan but mages with the same purpose. Their agenda is to complete the destruction of Bogdan which their predecessors had failed to do and also to compromise the union in this part of the world corrupting it so that reality deviance can thrive. Bogdan thinks that the ruling council (Symposium) of technocrats responsible for the Unions presence in Moscow and the surrounding area have already been compromised although he is unsure as to who maybe under the seven stars influence.

The symposium is also aware of Bogdans existence and it has long been a topic of debate amongst the high level technocrats who know of him if what should be done about him. However up until recently with the discovery of the artifacts raising Bogdan from his slumber, it has all been hypothetical. Control has left the final decision of what is done about the Bogdan Knoss anomaly up to the symposium although they have recommended that they proceed with extreme caution. The symposium is now completly divided on the problem, Several members believe that the artifacts should be destroyed outright for being reality deviant, others believe that the artifacts should be collected and studied but not activated, the third group want to use the artifacts to bring Bogdan Knoss back as a weapon against the 7 stars and there is also a fourth group who are undecided or ambivalent to the artifacts and are playing the other off against each other to further their own agendas.

Zukovs then demands evidence for the corruption in the union, the scene changes and Zukov experiences several visions. The first shows agent Krenyenko sitting in a room talking too a group of tradition mages, one of which pronounces himself Krenyenkos mentor. The second scene is of Dr Yankovich and Dr Volyova discussing the clone replacement of agent Markel. The third vision is of agent Hurst meeting with Umbridge and an unknown woman discussing the subversion of the symposium. Zukov fades back into sleep.

##############################

Agents Krenyenko, Hurst and Oleg meet briefly with Conrad and Umbridge who give the authorization to go after Zukov with what ever resources they need. After briefly visiting requisitions the depleted amalgam set off with several Hitmarks to Vnucova. The area seems quite as the helicopter lands but closer inspection shows several bodies littering the church grounds. The amalgam bursts into the church taking out the single living ghoul remaining inside. The church itself is a bloodbath intermixed with several piles of ash. The sleeping and bloodied form of Zukov is lying prone on the stone alter. The team wake zukov and after investigating the crypts find Mikheil unconscious in a cage below.
