On our second night in the city, I took the eastern girl Pi to the Collegio hoping the Christian wisdom I believed to be held in their walls would give her the guidance she needed. I also hoped that I might find some trace of our quarry there, as we knew that he had been seeking holy texts. Perhaps I also thought perhaps I might stumble across the holy text itself!
Sadly we did not gain immediate access to the Collegio's archives, but we did at least secure an opportunity to return and study there the following night.
However God had other plans for us. When we returned to our lodgings we found we had summons to return to Pelagius mansion. Pelagius required us to cleanse the roads to the south that were still plagued by Muslim bandits. Clearly this seemed like God's work so I readily agreed.

Initially we attempted to lure them out by appearing vulnerable, our cart was laden with supposed valuables and we hid our main fighting strength out of sigh. But they were not drawn to attack us.
We holed up in an old ruined tower to shelter from the day and consider our options. I felt the call of my instincts, using Malcav's gifts to hide me from the sight of evil men and God's gift of true sight I tracked my way to the bandit camp. There I saw a simple force of around ten Moorish bandits. It was clear their false faith could not protect them and I knew the next day would bring success.
And so it was. The next day the fools took our bait and attacked us. My blessed shield struck fear into their hearts, and Ulrich and his squire made short work of them hand-to-hand.
We took the ill gotten loot from the bandit camp and returned to the city and the gratitude of Pelagius.
The next evening we gained our audience with Flavius. We spoke with him about our quest. Indeed Leocrates had passed through here and studied at the Collegio, then he had moved on to the south. The prince also mentioned his friendship with price Roque of Pamplona, which gladdened my heart as I'd known our trail would take us to Roque sooner or later, but it was fine to see God's plan unfolding.
With the Princes blessing I then made to visit the Collegio to enquire after Leocrates time there. I was eager and my guard was lax. As ever God's punishment for such inattentiveness was swift. Two devils appeared out of the night and paralysed me with their witchcraft. Then one of them, using a twisted version of the blessed sight bored into my soul to steal the secrets of my hidden thoughts. And then they were gone.
Angry at my carelessness I proceeded to the Collegio. The keeper of the place Alfonso Palacius confirmed much of the story that Flavius had told us, and indeed gave us tantalising hints about the holy text that Leocrates had found in the Collegio's archives. Palacius confirmed that Flavius had taken the text with him on the road south.
I met with the others and we discussed our plans for the road ahead. Thankfully they all agreed that we should consult with Prince Roque before we press on to the south.
Perhaps Roque can council me as to how to deal with these devils who have impinged on the secrets of my mind. I know these Satan spawned devils must die, the secrets I guard are not meant for minds such as theirs!
